Elk Valley Snow Shepherds snowmobile clinics offer personalized instruction from a skilled, professional coaching staff with systematic lessons to enhance every level of rider in a supportive, inspiring environment. Our 19/20 winter series will connect sledders with the right level of challenge while providing resources to refine your current skill set and take your riding farther this season. Choose one or progress through the entire three clinic series.
Clinic 1 : January 11 & 12, 2020
Do you ride occasionally in the backcountry or deep snow but are unable to sidehill confidently and struggle to countersteer? Wonder why you are stuck all the time? Perhaps apprehensive to try new things? Our coaches Break It Down with systematic approaches to improve confidence and riding fundamentals through fun drills.
Specific Skills: Intro to concept of ‘constant motion’, using throttle/break appropriately for control, getting your sled ‘on edge’, avalanche safety primer, personalized review of sled set up to enhance your riding.
Clinic 2: February 8 & 9, 2020
Are you a rider who relies on throttle instead of technical skills to navigate steeper or treed terrain? Perhaps you feel limited due to a ‘weak-side’ or lack ‘flow’ in your riding. In this clinic we will help you Built It Up with a series of follow-me sessions and drills to get you out of that comfort zone and establish consistency in your riding.
Specific Skills: smooth motion and timing, using sled mechanics to your advantage, improved symmetry, throttle / break control, using good riding technique to get out of tricky terrain, avalanche rescue skills review.
Clinic 3: March 7 & 8, 2020
You are a confident rider and enjoy steep, technical terrain but struggle to incorporate dynamic movement to maximize performance. Perhaps you have a few lingering ‘weak spots’ in your riding? In this high-energy clinic, our coaches will help you redefine your limits and Dial It In with professional level tips and tricks you can incorporate into your skills portfolio.
Specific Skills: navigating challenging technical terrain and conditions using proper techniques and planning, jumps/drops, using track speed and momentum to master control, managing failing hillclimbs, maximize your sled set up to improve performance, leading an avalanche rescue. Prerequisite: Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 certificate
